John Santistevan, President/CEO
John Santistevan serves as Salud Family Health's President/ CEO. Mr. Santistevan is responsible for establishing the strategic vision for the organization and overseeing all operations. Prior to this position, Mr. Santistevan served as Salud's Deputy President/CEO and Salud's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Santistevan joined Salud in 1996 and since that time, he has been on the front lines promoting expanded access to all members of the community, with a focus on health equity. He has been a tireless advocate working with community members, partnering organizations and local, state and federal legislators to promote Salud's Mission. Mr. Santistevan has developed strong community partnerships with hospitals, specialty physician groups, mental health agencies and public health departments to provide a diverse referral network to Salud patients. Under his leadership, Salud has grown to serve more communities and individuals in need of access to affordable, quality health care.
Mr. Santistevan is a board member on several organizations. He currently serves as Treasurer on the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Board of Directors. Mr. Santistevan is a Board member on the National Center for Farmworkers Health Association, the Colorado Health Provider Association, Colorado Community Health Network, Colorado Community Managed Care Network, Community Health Provider Association, Community Health Association of Mountain/Plain States, and the Trinidad Miners Baseball Alumni Association.
Mr. Santistevan was the NACHC recipient of the Jeffrey T. Latman Leadership in Health Care Finance Award in 2010 and the Betsey K. Cooke Grassroots MVP Award in 2016. In 2021, John received the much celebrated and sentimental Stanley J. Brasher Community Health Gratitude Award, an award in honor Salud's former CEO, Jerry Brasher, and longtime health center advocate. In 2022, John was recognized for his leadership and service during the COVID-19 pandemic by both Adams County and the State of Colorado. The Board of Commissioners in Adams County proclaimed October 25, 2022 as "John Santistevan Day" in Adams County, while Governor Jared Polis proclaimed September 26, 2022 as "John Santistevan Day" across the State of Colorado.
