BEHAVIORAL HEALTH OPPORTUNITIES

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP WITH EMPHASIS IN PRIMARY CARE PSYCHOLOGY

This is a one-year, full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship program with an emphasis in Primary Care Psychology. The training program is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). The Fellow will function as an integral part of the healthcare team in that clinic, which includes other behavioral health providers. Primary job duties will include conducting mental health screenings and diagnostic evaluations, providing consultation services and brief interventions as requested by primary care providers, and providing individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy consistent with the Fellow’s experience and specific interests.

PSYCHOLOGY PRE-DOCTORAL INTERNSHIP

This internship is through the CU School of Medicine for students to offer specialty training that reflects a general commitment to public service psychology for special needs populations who are typically underserved. The program offers exposure to a diverse group of consumers of behavioral and mental health services as well as to a variety of intervention strategies and approaches. Salud is a Community Health Center that houses interns from the CU School of Medicine, Salud serves as a major rotation.

DOCTORAL & MASTER LEVEL PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT POSITIONS

Salud aims to develop culturally-competent primary care psychologists who are prepared to work in integrated safety net settings as clinicians, educators, and administrators. Our goal is to provide trainees with clinical, consultative, and educational experiences that will inform their view of health and the healthcare system and impact their approach to patient care.  As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to practice in one of the top integrated primary care settings while learning about policy, organizational, and management issues that professional psychologists working in medical settings need to understand. Supervision is provided by post-doctoral staff and psychology interns.

PRACTICUM PLACEMENTS FOR SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS

For social work students with an interest in Integrated Primary Care Psychology duties include: health and behavior screenings, consultation-based services, psychotherapy, and attendance at monthly meetings for case conferences and didactic seminars.  Supervision is provided by a licensed clinical social worker.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

  • 1 - 3 positions every year starting the last week of August

  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience
