Behavioral Health at Salud Family Health Centers
Program Description
At Salud Family Health Centers, we are committed to providing access to quality health services to all people. We believe that meaningful health care includes all aspects of a person, including behavioral and emotional needs. For this reason, Salud has a team of Behavioral Health Providers with training in psychology, social work, and counseling who work side-by-side with our Primary Care Providers to ensure that patients receive thorough, appropriate, and effective care when they need it.
Why does Salud have Behavioral Health Providers?
Because:
- Physical health and mental health are linked
- Reactions to stress can make a physical health problem worse
- Behavioral Health Providers can help identify and treat mental health concerns and stress reactions
Program Mission
To deliver stratified, integrated, patient-centered, population-based, primary care services utilizing a diversified team of professionals, including behavioral health providers, who
a) function as primary care providers, not as ancillary staff, and
b) work shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of the medical team in the same place at the same time with the same patients.
Services offered
Behavioral Health Providers offer a variety of services, including:
- Screening patients for stressors and mental health conditions
- Providing immediate support and/or referrals if necessary
- Individual, group, and family therapy
- Shared Medical Appointments
- Psychological testing
Payment
Behavioral health services provided during medical visits are offered at no cost to patients. Psychotherapy services are offered along a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay.
